Daniel William Wood Jr. was born on May 14, 1970 in Boston. He wasn't the first one in the family... He already had 3 sisters (Bethany, Melissa and Pamela) but he was the first son. After Danny two more children followed...another boy, called Brett, and his 4th sister Rachel! Danny grew up in Dorchester, Boston and their family life was centered around church. The Woods were of Catholic Faith and all the kids sang in the church choir. They absolutely loved it. Danny got so involved in music, he not only sang in church but also at school and around the house. His first school was "William Monroe Trotter School" in Roxbury. It was a school with kids of different racial backgrounds and his parents thought it would be good for him. At school Danny didn't have any learning problems and he easily made friends. He met his best friend, Donnie Wahlberg, on the bus to and from school. They lived close to eachother and had a lot in common: they made friends easily, were both interested in music, loved R&B sounds and easily took up steps of street dancing. Danny was chosen for the schoolchoir, where he met Jordan and Jonathan Knight, two brothers. He got along with them well at school but outside of school he always hung out with Donnie (who wasn't accepted at the school choir). He was known as easygoing but he could also be stubborn. He had the reputation of having a too-quick temper, being assertive and sticking up for his values and friends. He was no big talker but when there was something important he would speak up. He wasn't only a good student, he was also a good athlete. He loved sports: he did basketball, soccer and he excelled in track. His room was full of trophies... Trophies he and Brett, who also loved sports, won through the years. Because of his athletic background, he produced smooth and natural moves and he picked up breakdancing. He and Donnie were part of the Dorchester Youth Collaborative and together they did breakdancing demonstrations all over Boston. Jordan joined both guys later. Soon, they also did shows for audiences, mostly teens. During the summer, Danny and Jordan taught kids dancing at a day camp. Danny went to the "Phyllis Wheatley Middle School" together with Donnie and then to "Copley High School" in downtown Boston. At that time, Danny was part of a group called "Rock Against Racism" and when he was asked to be part of the New Kids on the Block, the decision was hard. He also was offered a 4-year scholarship at Boston University, so the decision REALLY wasn't easy. His heart was with the group so with the help of the dean's advise, Danny decided to go for it and see if the New Kids on the Block could really work. If not, he could always come back to Boston University, the offer still stood! After New Kids on The Block´s split up Danny Wood worked producing other groups like Mr.Marvelous. Also he created his own producer company, Damage Productions, in 1997. The most successful group produced by Danny was LFO (Lyte Funkie ones) thanks to a version of the most famous song of NKOTB: Step by Step. In the videoclip of this song apeared three exmembers of NKOTB: Danny Wood, Joe McIntyre and Donnie Wahlberg. Of course all NKOTB fans were exited with this song version.
For personal reasons Danny moved to Florida after getting married in 1998. There he went on with his work as producer of musical groups, although he worked no more with LFO. Some time after he decided to make his own and very personal album, nothing commercial: Room full of smoke. The songs were only music, he didn't sing. At the begining it wasn´t available on stores, it just could be gotten by Internet through Danny´s web site. Danny used for this record the artistic name of D-Fuse and it was dedicated to his mother memory who died in September of the previous year for cancer; to the fight of which was destined a part of the benefits of the album.
After this Danny wanted to record another album, also so personal, but this time he would sing. The date of its release was delayed.
Danny went to the NKOTB fan convention 2000. There he explained to the fans the reasons why he has done this record. Without a doubt along all these years he has lived so many things and the desire of let know people all these experiences is the reason for this album. The album talks about his mother, his wife, the custody of his son... as the record is very personal Danny didn´t want to sign with a big record company, because he didn't want that nobody says him what to do with his songs. Danny told to his fans that the record is not a commercial one and also he´s with a very small record company which couldn´t give him a big promotion.
He knows that it’s difficult and he requested aid to the fans so that they comment about the record with all the people they can, they call to the radio stations requesting his songs... In that moment he had finished fifteen songs, he was going to record three more and chose twelve.
He also has been involved in some cinema projects. The most famous has been Deveria; a short film that was presented at Sundance Film Festival. Danny also filmed a movie called "Tequila Express". The film take place in Mexico but they shut in Las Vegas. The film is about a girl kidnapped by some pushers. She´s a government oficial´s daughter. David Sterr is the director.
During 2003 Danny traveled all around USA to promote his album Second Face. Radio interviws and live performances. The album was also released in Germany where Danny traveled to promote. He even filmed a videoclip for this country. Right now Danny is back to Florida to dedicate to his family and has left the showbussines.
